WOW … what a great turnout followed by great fireworks! And, it was so nice to finally be able to get our group together again … at least on the US side! We are anxiously waiting for when we will be able to get the whole Club together!
Over 70 members and guests attended our event at the Blaine Marina and had a great time. A couple of elements that made this gathering so special was the number of new members that attended and the number of guests … as in prospective new members. As it was, we signed one new member during the event … Jason and Kirsten Sloan on The Grace docked at Blaine Harbor, Gate 1 G52. Very nice people! This was the first SYC event for eight of our new members, and eleven guests.
As usual, we had great weather and a very nice fireworks display was put on by the City of Blaine.
I would also like to thank our members that did a lot of work to make this a successful event. Marlin & Sharon Statema for co-hosting and for getting our BBQs to and from the Semiahmoo Marina and Gerry and Anne Heys for doing most of the shopping. Dick and Colleen Hardman purchased the ice cream and kept it frozen in their boat freezer until needed, and several members came early to help set up then stayed to help clean up … John LeBrun & Evi Mayer, Blaine & Kathy Burfield and Olivier Kerridge-Boyle. Thank you all for making this a great event!
