Thirteen US based SYC boats with 33 members and guests enjoyed fun weekend at the Roche Harbor Marina over the Memorial Day Weekend. The group included several new members joining us for their first on the water event. Though the club is still not able to host any formal group events, members still managed to have a weekend of fun and camaraderie.
Early arrivers enjoyed an informal appetizer and docktail get together on the docks Friday evening.
On Saturday afternoon, several members made the short hike up to the San Juan Island Distillery to enjoy samplings of their wide array of gin and brandy products. The group enjoyed the late afternoon sun and a great sunset gathered informally at the mid-dock tent for appetizers and BYOB drinks.
The group fielded three teams to compete in a bocce ball tournament on Sunday morning at the Roche Harbor bocce courts. After a round of enthusiastic play, the teams settled in a three way tie for the lead.
Sunday afternoon the group enjoyed the marina sponsored beer and seltzer tasting in the main tent, before settling in for an early night in preparation for a Monday sailing.
