SYC at Prevost Harbor
Owing to the current border status, our traditional Ice Breaker Cruise was held at two separate locations, one on each side of the border. Our US members met at Prevost Harbor on Stuart Island, while our Canadian members rendezvoused at Montague Harbour. Cruise hosts Tim (US) and Don (Canada) share the following reports.

“We held our season opening Ice Breaker Cruise for US boaters at Prevost Harbor on April 23 – 25. As usual, weather was fantastic with a beautiful and sunny Friday and rain on Saturday and Sunday.
We had a nice fire Friday night and cooked hot dogs and burgers and had a lot of fun. It was so good to get out again with Club members! We had 6 boats and 13 people attend this cruise.
Thank you all who came and helped make this a great weekend.”

Ice Breaker Happy Hour
“Blustery winds could not stop some of the SYC members from crossing the Georgia Strait on route to Montague Harbour. WOW we almost had the entire bay to ourselves this weekend! SYC had 8 boats and 18 people attend the weekend. Friday turned out to be a great day weather wise and we managed to haul several cords (ok…maybe a couple of arm-loads) of perfectly dried firewood and starter material to the Montague campground. Yes…we had the traditional (well it was not quite the same because we missed Dawn and Tom Douthwaite) hot dog roast and Katherine provided the Smores components to top off the evening!
We had some entertainment from the Park Ranger who, after threatening us with tickets for illegal use of the firepit (?!?!?), was gracious enough to come back to check on our social distancing skills and finally after some bribing of chocolate cookies, brought… first some additional firewood and then a bucket to put the fire out. The bucket was most appreciated (along with the NO tickets/fines). All-in-all no jail time was reported and the Island is still intact!!
Saturday turned out to be a day of hiking and exploring the beaches in between the raindrops. Montague is a great spot for various hikes or just beachcombing, or just hanging out!! Wayne (and Chris) on the other hand, spent part of the time putting in a new water pump which Wayne had flown in!!
