A spirited group of 115 Semiahmoo Yacht Club members and guests enjoyed another fantastic weekend at the Roche Harbor Marina on San Juan Island this past Memorial Day Weekend.
The 2019 reprise of this annual event began Friday evening, as a majority of our group shuttled over to Friday Harbor and enjoyed stunning harbor views and a delicious seafood buffet cooked up by our friends at the San Juan Island Yacht Club. Those who stayed behind at Roche enjoyed the evening with an informal appetizer and BYOB get together.
A rainy and cool Saturday morning started with a breakfast of oatmeal and fixings. After a rainy day, the sun came out just in time for the hot dog, hamburger and root beer float dinner. Then the dancing started…. DJ Bruce had a record number of dancers rockin’ n’ rollin’ at the Saturday night sock hop, so many that the barge was bouncing enough to create waves! The weekend’s 1950s theme was indeed a hit as you will see from the pictures.
Sunday morning sunshine made for a perfect day after a light breakfast. Whether exploring, visiting, shopping or attending the Roche Harbour Marina and SYC co-hosted open house (complete with more hot dogs, local craft beer and the Mariners game) it was a beautiful day. Pulled pork, chicken barbeque and salads were on offer for dinner. Then DJ Bruce was back by popular demand with more 50s tunes and dancing. A movie for the night owls completed the day.
Cruise hosts Lexie and Bruce (), Sharon and Jamey (Hydro Therapy), Laura (At Last) could not have pulled the weekend together without the hard work of guests Rhonda H., Jim H. and Tracy D. We are thrilled everyone had such a good time!
