Memorial Day at Roche Harbor

Lady’s Pirate Costume Finalists

Thirty four boats and 86 Pirates (SYC members and guests) invaded Roche Harbor Marina over the Memorial Day weekend this year. The weather was spectacular and Roche was as beautiful as ever. Highlights of the weekend included the creative pirate costume and judging exhibition, imaginative boat decorationing and fun breakfast and dinners. We were our own live entertainment all weekend!

Friday night appetizers and the rib and chicken dinner on Saturday were scrumptious. Bud’s Tug again contributed the beans. Pirate Porridge breakfasts were a big hit, too.

Gentlemen’s Custume Contest Finalists

The Pirate Games were not to be missed-counting pirate booty and other buccaneer contests are not as simple as one might think! The Pirate Games 1st Place went to Katherine from Bacalao, 2nd Place to Helen from Bud’s Tug, 3rd Place to Jennifer from Shocking Lesson. Best decorated boat award went Rawls Royce, with honourable mentions to Elysian and Mary D.

In the over 18 categories, best female pirate costume winner was Karen Z (Karen Z), best male pirate costume winner was Steve M (Tight Ship), and most original costume winner was Tim M (Acuarelas). When you look at the photos you will know why. In the under 18 male and female categories best costume prizes went to Helen and Don’s (Bud’s Tug) grandchildren Jorynn and Denlin, who, by the way, were extremely helpful with food preparation among other things.
