On the evening of Wednesday April 28th, nineteen of the SYC ladies and friends gathered at Van Wingerden’s Nursery for an appropriately socially-distanced Annual Come Play in the Dirt event.
Jen Wingerden gave an excellent lecture on “New Plants for the Season” and about how to arrange flowers for both shade and sun. After the presentation, the Members got to ask their individual questions. The group was then given a substantial discount on their selected purchases throughout the nursery. Support was given for planting and design ideas, and complimentary potting soil was generously provided by Van Wingerden’s.
This very enjoyable event has occurred annually in the Spring for the last 8 years. When asked, Jen said that the biggest benefit to Van Wingerden’s is that the SYC Members have become regular recurring customers at their fine local nursery. All SYC Members are encouraged to come and appreciate this very supportive vendor throughout the year, and to participate in this special event next Spring, as well.
Please let them know how much the SYC appreciates them. This event is both educational and social and helps SYC Members get to know each other, while building camaraderie.
