Wow! What a turnout...32 members gathered at Rustlers Front Street Grill on February 13 (Lynden, WA) for the first US-based SYC land event of 2026. Talk about pentup energy! The event was hosted byBob Simpson, who was ably assisted by a more-than-willing "draftee"David Baily.
The food was amazing...quality and quantity. Two very pleasant and competent servers (Stephanie and Trisha) impressed us as they took and kept track of individual food and drink orders for the hungry, thirsty, and boistrous SYC crowd. And, then, they effortlessly delivered the orders, bills, and take-home containers at the end of the evening!
Before the meal, "welcomes" and officer acknowledgements were made, followed by announcements of upcoming events: the Nauti-Friday @ Cosmos Greek Restaurant (White Rock, BC) on March 13 and the Annual General Meeting (AGM) and Luncheon on April 4 at the Great Blue Heron Grille at the Semiahmoo Resort Golf Course in Blaine, WA. Commodore Jason Sloan also reminded everyone to get their free SYC 45th Anniversary tee shirt orders in to him no later than March 31.
Three $10 Starbucks gift cards and a $50 Rustlers gift card were given out as door prizes. The Starbucks card winners were Hollie Darden, Jeff Lee, and Rob Schueler. The winner of the $50 Rustlers card was Pat Clopp. Special kudos to server "Trisha" for securing the Rustlers gift card from her manager in appreciation of the large turnout that night. Attendance pays dividends!
