By all accounts, a good time was had by all who attended this year’s Ice Breaker Cruise on Stuart Island which ran from April 21-23, 2023. All 7 boats were able to squeeze on to the Washington State Park dock in Prevost Harbor for a fun start to this year’s cruising season.
Co hosts Joan & Walter Shemly and Helen & Don Budnarchuk did a great job of keeping the SYC crew and their guests busy with food, games and activity.
Some folks went to great lengths to complete the Scavenger Bingo even though the winner was going to be chosen by a random draw! Paul Dumbleton won the bean bag toss which went to a second round to break a tie.
Although the weather was pretty typical for an April cruise, the rain held off for dinner each evening and gave folks a chance to explore the walking trails on the Island. As the evenings were cooler the group was lucky to be able to gather onboard the latest iteration of Mariner.
Thanks to Mel and Louise Kolstad, who brought firewood with them, the group was able to enjoy a lovely campfire to roast their hot dogs over. Joan Shemly contributed some lovely chilli to spice up the dogs!
Morning muffins were enjoyed courtesy of Helen Budnarchuk.
Thanks again to all who braved the early season weather to gather for another fun cruise to start off the 2023 cruising schedule!
