The SYC Memorial Weekend Roche Harbor Cruise had an amazing turnout this year, with 45 boats and over 110 members and guests joining in the festivities. PJ Christmas Party
And who says wearing PJ's to a party can't be fun? Close to 80 members and guests donned their finest holiday sleepwear and gathered to celebrate the season at the "PJ" themed SYC Christmas party on December 2nd at the home of Jeff and Lynette. 2017 Commodore’s Ball
The 2017 SYC Commodore’s Ball took place on November 11 in the main ballroom at the Silver Reef Hotel in Ferndale. The evening was flawless thanks to the organizational skills of Rear Commodore Laura, ably assisted by the decorating committee consisting of Olivier B, Leslie C, Lynette M-R, with help also from Michelle F and Steve M. 2017 Fishing Derby
The annual Salmon Derby took place September 15-17 at Roche Harbor and was enjoyed by members of both Semiahmoo and Birch Bay Village Yacht Clubs! Attendance was great, with 11 boats and a large number of anglers and guests. The fishing derby was a boatload of fun; although catching legal-size fish was a challenge. Victoria Symphony Splash
An enthusiastic group of 12 boats turned out for the 2017 cruise to the Symphony Splash in Victoria on the August 4-7 long weekend. A few boats met up beforehand to anchor out in Garrison Bay and cruisers enjoyed a potluck dinner aboard Bacalao. Thanks to Debby and Paul of the Mary D for coordinating the anchor out. Pig Roast at Silva Bay
This year the ever popular SYC Pig Roast returned to the beautiful home of Dick and Colleen Hardman at Silva Bay, BC. This is the 7th year that Dick and Colleen have so generously hosted this SYC event at their lovely Gabriola Island home. Thirty-four boats made their way to Silva Bay in pretty acceptable weather and sea conditions. We even had members (Ed & Marion) arrive by seaplane! Clean and shiny classic cars, antiques, hotrods, SUVs and sedans came out to participate in the SYC Nauti Friday Car Rally on a beautiful Friday evening. What an amazing weekend SYC enjoyed at Fossil Bay on Sucia Island June 9-11th! Memorial Day at Roche Harbor
Thirty four boats and 86 Pirates (SYC members and guests) invaded Roche Harbor Marina over the Memorial Day weekend this year. The weather was spectacular and Roche was as beautiful as ever. Highlights of the weekend included the creative pirate costume and judging exhibition, imaginative boat decorationing and fun breakfast and dinners. We were our own live entertainment all weekend! Despite a wet and stormy St. Patrick's Day evening, an enthusiastic SYC group met for the wearing of the green and a night of harness racing at the Fraser Downs race track.
